Project Experience

Stu has delivered a wide variety of projects, with several recent examples highlighted below.

The woolshed at Ayrburn Queenstown, hospitality bar and restaurant. Heritage restoration with materials including a corrugated iron roof, schist stone walls and a schist flagstone pathway. Managed by development manager Stu Minty for Winton.

Arrowtown

In his previous role as Development Manager for Winton Capital, Stu was primarily responsible for the delivery of the $100M luxury Ayrburn Hospitality Precinct. This project comprised multiple buildings — including The Woolshed, The Manure Room, The Dairy, The Burr Bar, The Barrel Room, Billy’s, and The Bakehouse, RM Prime Produce, along with other auxiliary structures. This project included civil works as well as significant gardens, and hard and soft landscaping.

Stu was responsible for the geotechnical design and construction supervision for the 30m-high excavations required to accommodate the new Skyline gondola terminal and multi-level car park. The works comprised construction of tensioned in-ground anchors utilising a top-down construction methodology to ensure the in-service and seismic performance of the excavation was maintained, along with general earthworks and retaining.

Marina Terrace Apartments, Wanaka

As part of the Marina Terrace development, Stu was the Project Team Lead for the Geotechnical Design and Construction Supervision of the $100M Marina Terrace project. This development comprised 50 luxury apartments across 10 multi-level buildings on the Wanaka lakefront. The project involved complex ground conditions and a design solution incorporating dewatering, sheet pile retaining, multi-row anchoring, soil nailing, and earthworks to successfully develop the site.

Flood/Landslip Remedial Works (Various)

Stu provided engineering design and contract management (Engineer’s Representative NZS 3910) services in his role as Senior Project Engineer to clients including KiwiRail, DCC, QLDC, EQC, and the Regional Council, delivering managed solutions to remediate and repair flood and landslip damage to land, structures, and local assets. These works included investigation, design, consent, procurement, and contract management across multiple contracts within the wider Otago region.
